Former trial attorney Erin Fay, J.D. /M.B.A accepts position as technology firm’s first female COO
Los Angeles, CA, July 10, 2018 – GeekTek announces another milestone in its history of expansion and success with its recent hire of Erin Fay, J.D. and M.B.A, making her one of the few female executives in the technology industry, as well as the cannabis industry. Fay brings valuable leadership and insight to GeekTek’s business processes with more than ten years’ experience as a trial attorney leading serious and complex prosecutions from investigation to resolution.
Fay brings more than ten years of legal experience in the federal and state courts in one of the country’s most dangerous and violent cities, the City of Camden, NJ — many of them against drug traffickers. Fay led multi-agency investigations that successfully dismantled cocaine and heroin drug trafficking organizations through her analytical and strategic skills. Fay now turns to her long-held beliefs in the positive and therapeutic benefits of cannabis by. Fay said, “The cannabis industry holds an extraordinary opportunity for women to make a real mark in the world’s fastest-growing industry. I know that my new leadership role will continue the momentum in the Puffragette movement and inspire others to persevere as well.”
CEO Eric Schlissel acknowledges not only Fay’s strong leadership skills but her fresh perspective was a key factor in his decision. “Erin leads by example with strength, integrity, and empathy, which made her the obvious choice for GeekTek’s executive team. Fay’s analytical and organized approach to the multifaceted role of lead prosecutor in federal and state courts will serve her well at GeekTek.” Fay said, “Eric was searching for a candidate whose background demonstrated an ability to juggle multiple projects and make well-reasoned decisions under pressure with competing interests. Our values aligned and I share Eric’s vision for GeekTek’s future as it expands and grows alongside the businesses it serves.”
Fay is in the midst of her 100-day executive plan during a time of internal business expansion and growth. GeekTek has steadily gained success with its expanding list of clientele by implementing a growth-based approach to managed IT solutions and cybersecurity. Schlissel noted, “Hiring Erin is another part of our nationwide expansion strategy, which included opening an office in Denver in April, and gaining more clients in the cannabis industry.”
Having appointed Erin Fay as COO, GeekTek inches closer to bridging the massive gaps of gender parity in the IT industry. Fay plays a leading role in shaping GeekTek’s corporate strategy and she hopes to encourage more women to pursue leadership roles. Citing a joint study by the Executive Women’s Forum and the Center for Cyber Safety and Education which recently found men were four times more likely than women to hold executive-level positions in cybersecurity. Erin says, “GeekTek is a progressive company, but I hope that one day all companies embrace women in higher levels of leadership. I recognize that it is a company that is at the forefront of bold, new approaches to scaling companies through innovative and strong IT and cybersecurity.
